AIB (American Institute of Baking)

For almost 100 years, AIB International has been a pioneer and leader in food safety auditing and education. Since 2008, AIB has recognized Grand Rapids Label as Superior in regards to direct food contact packaging.

AIB International provides food safety audits, inspection, certification, and educational seminars worldwide to the food manufacturing and distribution industry and its suppliers. This includes finished foods and beverages products, ingredients, fresh produce, packaging production, and distribution facilities. AIB Standards include foundational elements from Codex, ISO, FDA, global regulatory agencies and a compilation of industry best practice, accumulated and refined over the years.

Annually, Grand Rapids Label hosts AIB for inspection. There are five inspection categories and each Category is allocated 200 points for scoring purposes, to a total of 1,000 points. A passing score is 700 and above. Facilities scoring in the top 25% of all scores for their business category are awarded a Recognition of High Achievement – Superior.

The five Categories for Inspection are:

  • Operational Methods and Personnel Practices
  • Maintenance for Food Safety
  • Cleaning Practices
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Adequacy of Prerequisite Programs and Food Safety Programs
